Garden with a Winner!™

Spring planting prep & tips:

  • Sharpen the garden tools
  • Clear out any leaves, leftover weeds and remnants of diseased plants for a fresh start
  • Top up your garden with soil, organic material or compost
  • Add fertilizer (On a budget? Here are some homemade options)
  • Prune plants back to stimulate growth
  • Split your perennials
  • Water and layer with a couple inches of mulch

Plants that naturally grow in the area will grow well and with little hassle; annuals are not generally native and are usually more work. Perennials are less work because they do not need to be replanted every year. Now is an ideal time to introduce ground covers to your lawn, you can walk on them and they are low maintenance.
